Our Year 1966-1967 with Miss Gaskins

This class contained the White Rock Menace Gang. Why they put all of us monsters in the same class with that poor teacher I'll never know. Miss Imajean Gaskins was teaching the first and last class of her career. She retired from teaching the next year. Remember we had no A/C and had the windows open. Miss Gaskins was sweating profusely and we would draw pictures of her on the black board, sweat rings under her arms and all. We had spit wad battles going all the time using Bic pen barrels. We would shoot them and make them stick to the blackboard while she was writing with her back to us. We made letters and drew words on the ceiling with so many spit wads. Miss Gaskins would get so flustered with us, she would leave the room for hours at a time and hide out in the lounge. One time I made a big paper projectile with paper clip and staple reinforcement and shot it from a rubber band. I hit Robert Hardin in the eye and almost put his eye out. It swelled up terribly there in class and when Miss Gaskins came back to the room, she tried to make the class fess up who did it, but nobody would snitch on me. I could make a bird noise with my teeth like a ventriloquist where she couldn't tell who was doing it. I don't remember learning anything that year except from our Rubber Band Shooter and Spit Wad Technology 301 class.
