A
quick note for those of you that charged your reunion registration to
your credit card... the charge on your statement will read
"White Rock Animal Hospital" (Robert Hawthorne's vet
clinic) rather than LHHS Reunion. Dr. Bob was kind enough to process our
charges for us, so please don't contest them! They
are legit.
We're now just over 30 days from the huge "XXX" event, and things are happening FAST! We're still receiving registrations (and note that the pre-reg pricing has been extended through July 7th). A couple of things you need to know:
Many of you will remember our foreign exchange student from South Africa,
Norman Adami. Well, Norman has
registered and will be here for the reunion weekend!
Early
Bird Registration of $70.00 or $120.00 per couple has been extended until
July 7th! If you haven't registered yet, take advantage of
this $30 discount and register today! Links to the forms can be found
further down this page.
Click
here for a list of folks that have registered... bunches and
bunches so far, and lots of spouses and guests! The registration
activity has been steady and we're updating this list with each new registration.
If you haven't registered yet, please do so ASAP (and we really need your
money for cashflow!). Registration forms in downloadable
format can be found further down this page. They should be
completed and sent to Kathy Adams (her address info is on the forms).
"How can
I be an active participant in the Reunion and have some fun before the
official festivities commence in July?" Easy! You can help
with one of the many volunteer positions we need to have filled!
We've got them listed here, and if you're ready, willing and able to offer
your assistance, please let us know.
We
need help locating 62 lost 1973 Wildcats! For
a list of those whose phone numbers, addresses, e-mail, etc we're missing,
click here. If you know where any of these classmates are or can
at least provide us with some clues or ideas on where to look for them,
please send an e-mail to Kathy
Adams, Larry Adelstein, or Steve
Spoonts. As we locate these people we'll remove their names from this
list. Thank you Larry for doing a TREMENDOUS job find our lost classmates
and cutting down this list... in January 2003 he had 280 names on it!
OK folks, things are starting to come together for our big reunion in July! Here's the skinny:
The reunion will be held July 18-20, 2003 at the Omni Hotel, Richardson, TX.
Be sure to continue reading down and find the forms... we must have the forms completed and returned!
The reunion package is all-inclusive, and the weekend will include:
Friday
- "Jimmy Buffet" Happy Hour at the hotel bar and pool from 7:00 - 11:00 PM
- Hors d'oeuvres
- Cash bar
- Very casual attire - shorts and beachwear is recommended
- Our very own Brad Barlow will be the DJ!
Saturday
- Golf tournament
- Course to be determined
- 8:00 AM shotgun start
- Cost will be approximately $55 per golfer
- We will need your handicap for the pairings, and more information on the golf event will follow!
- The Big XXX Reunion Party 7:00 PM - 1:00 AM
- DJ and live band - Lake Highlands' own "Pit Pops" 9:00 PM - ??
- Buffet dinner 7:00 - 9:00 PM
- Cash bar
- Video presentation
- Awards
- Photographer - candid photos available
- Class photos will be taken and made available for additional charge
- Business casual attire - leave those coats and ties at home!

"The Pit Pops" play a wide variety of popular hit songs from the 60s and 70s, best described as "rock and roll with soul". The members first met because they all have, or have had, sons and daughters in the LHHS band program. This diverse group of dads now enjoys making their own music together. Follow these links for bio information on the Pit Pops or to hear a demo of their music. Our own Brian Cahill is the sound man (4th from the left in the rear of the pic) and is responsible for all the twistin' and tweakin' that goes on behind the scenes.

- Coffee/Bloody Marys in Hospitality Suite 9:00 - 10:00 AM
- Brunch and farewell party in pool area 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM
- Food served from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
- Bring the kids and hang out at the pool
- Late check-out is available
There will be a hospitality suite that will open and operating whenever we don't have any official functions underway, and we will have opportunities for "Friends of Bill W." fellowship for any former drinkers that might want to participate.

There are instructions on the Registration Form about how and where to send your money. Please don't put this off - we need the cashflow in the bank account!
The Early Bird Registration cost of the package is $70 per person or $120 per couple if you pay before July 7, 2003. After July 7th, or at the door, the cost goes to $100 per person or $180 per couple. MasterCard and VISA are being accepted until July 13th (with a $5 surcharge). All charge information is on the Registration Form.
The group rate for the Omni Hotel is $69 per night, and there are upgrade rooms available. Be sure to mention "Lake Highlands Class of 1973" when registering to get this rate. The cutoff date for the special room rate is 6/27/03, so make those reservations early!
Also note that we are putting together a gigantic PowerPoint presentation of old pictures and other memories that will be shown throughout the night on Saturday... if you have any digital or scanned images, please send them to Kathy Adams.
This
time there are volunteer opportunities to arrange, produce, and execute
the following:
Decorations
PowerPoint or video presentations/old pics
Coordinate the Photographer
Music (coordinate with the band, and arrange for OUR music during the
breaks)
Awards
Directory
Soliciting sponsorships, Door prizes, and advertisements
Tee shirts and/or coozies
Golf outing (helping George Russell)

Picnic/Sunday activity
Newsletter/announcement
As you can see, there are a few things to do. To get involved, email any of us on the reunion committee. If you and a couple of friends want to be responsible for a task, please get with us quickly. It will be pretty much first come/first served. (Are you listening, Theresa Reilly and the Harris sisters?).
